At the other end it was proposed to appoint a London agency to be entrusted with the business of seeing to the disposal and proper marketing of New Zealand meat in England (Smithfield).〔Meat Pool Proposal. ''New Zealand Herald'', Volume LIX, Issue 18006, 3 February 1922, Page 6〕 Funding would be provided by a small per carcass levy paid by producers.〔 The government was empowered by the Act to prohibit the export of meat except as determined by the Board.〔
